Phil Robertson’s Wife Kay Robertson Described Their Care for Each Other
Phil Robertson’s wife, Kay Robertson, posted a loving tribute to him just over two months before he died.
“Phil takes care of me, and I take care of him. Sometimes he fixes a little makeup smudge for me, and I comb the chicken biscuit crumbs out of his beard. I’m getting over being sick, and I can’t wait to get back to taking care of my pioneer man,” she wrote on March 22 on her Instagram page.
“I love Phil, and I really want y’all to know that the hard years were worth it to get to where we are today. Our early years were messy, and I never dreamed our family would turn that story into a movie,” she added. She then urged people to watch The Blind movie, saying, “But the Lord really does turn messes into messages, and The Blind movie is proof of that. If the story of Phil’s wild, godless years can help point people to Jesus, that’s the story we’ll keep telling.”
Phil Robertson’s son and daughter-in-law confirmed in social media posts on May 25 that the Duck Dynasty patriarch has died.
Robertson’s cause of death was not given, but he was dealing with a well-known Alzheimer’s diagnosis as well as other health issues.
According to Shreveport Times, Phil Robertson’s “early adult life and marriage to Kay Robertson were depicted in the movie,” The Blind.
In April, the couple’s son Jase Robertson revealed on a podcast that his dad’s Alzheimer’s disease was worsening, and that his mom, 77, was also struggling with health issues.
He revealed that his mother “recently spent 11 days in the hospital after a fall in which she suffered a cut became infected,” according to Shreveport Times.
In 2024, Robertson wrote on Instagram, “Miss Kay, you were the perfect girl for me back when we were teenagers, and you still are. There was a time when I was a low-down, out-of-control drunk. But there you were, cleaning up my messes and believing with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength that Jesus would be there to wash away my sins. I repented and came to know Jesus as Lord. And you forgave like he did.”
Farewell to a Legend: The Life and Legacy of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson
The world bids goodbye to one of television’s most iconic and unshakeable figures—Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Robertson family and face of the acclaimed reality series “Duck Dynasty”. At the age of 79, Phil passed away, leaving behind a sweeping legacy built on rugged entrepreneurship, outspoken faith, and family devotion.
Known for his deep voice, trademark beard, and bold convictions, Robertson was more than a reality TV personality. He was a man who carved his own path in the American South, championed traditional values, and created a business empire that spanned generations. His death was confirmed by his family, who shared heartfelt tributes across social media over the weekend.
“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” the family said in a public statement. They grounded their comfort in scripture, referencing the words of Paul about the hope found in belief, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of love from fans and supporters around the world.
Phil’s son Jase Robertson echoed the sentiment, writing, “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed, but we know he is in good hands.” Jase reminded followers that the family’s comfort comes from faith, trusting that they will see him again. Willie Robertson, another of Phil’s sons, shared photos on Instagram, reminiscing about shared moments and the deep bond they had.
It was just last year that the Robertson family disclosed Phil’s health issues. Diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease and battling an underlying blood disorder, his condition had reportedly deteriorated. “Phil’s not doing well,” Jase had admitted in a December episode of the family podcast, Unashamed. Doctors agreed there was no cure, and care shifted toward comfort and quality of life.
Phil Robertson’s story began long before Hollywood found him. In 1972, he founded Duck Commander, a company based in West Monroe, Louisiana, producing duck calls and hunting supplies. The business, rooted in rural craftsmanship and outdoor expertise, grew into a booming enterprise run by his sons and extended family. Then came 2012, when “Duck Dynasty” first aired on A&E, bringing America into the lives of the Robertson clan. The show ran until 2017, gaining a massive fanbase drawn to its humor, rugged authenticity, and old-fashioned values.
The saga is far from over. In January, A&E announced a continuation series titled “Duck Dynasty: The Revival”, set to premiere this summer. The upcoming show will follow Willie and his wife Korie as they guide their children and grandchildren at the family homestead, continuing the family’s legacy through a new generation.
Phil Robertson leaves behind a large family, including his wife Kay Robertson, his sons Jase, Willie, Jep, and Al Robertson, and a daughter, Phyllis. His life was a testament to holding firm beliefs, living simply, and building something lasting—not just materially, but spiritually and generationally.
Though the man himself is gone, his story continues—as robust, gritty, and enduring as the Louisiana bayou he called home. In a world swiftly shifting and often uncertain, Phil represented a pillar of consistency and tradition, and for many, that is the memory that will endure.
